Social media has played an essential role in campaigns by helping marketers reach the right target market at the right time. With 2015 now in the books, let’s recap some of the best social media campaigns of the year.
Domino’s Pizza Emoji:
Domino’s simple and contemporary approach is what makes this an effective campaign. With just a tweet of a pizza emoji, Domino’s will have your pizza delivered to your home. The cryptic use of pizza emojis for Tweet messages sparked quite the interest among millennials. Within a day more than 500 people across the US placed orders through the emoji Tweets and it gained quite the media coverage from USA Today, Forbes, Good Morning America and Jimmy Fallon.
Hefty Ultimate Cups-Cool moms Youtube campaign:
This Youtube campaign has to be one of the funniest campaigns of the year as Hefty Cups attempts to make these moms “cool” by having them impersonate their teens through the use of modern slang such as “Bae”, “Hangry” or “Cray”. The videos from the campaign received over 250,000 views via Youtube and Facebook during the first 24 hours. The creative use of the #partyhardmoms hashtag was also a great slogan as it accurately reflected its message. Hefty Cups certainly succeeded in reaching millennials through their moms with this campaign.
Taco Bell’s Snapchat Campaign:
Snapchat has proven to be the playground among millennials as many incorporate it as a part of their social media experience. Taco Bell jumped on this platform to reach this audience by creating filters of their menu items in the form of valentine cards. Users had the option to send these pun filed filters such as “Nacho average valentine” to their significant other or secret admirer.
HP’s #bendtherules campaign on Vine:
Although HP has a small presence on social media, the company wanted to raise awareness of the new HP Pavilion x360’s capabilities and highlight its unique design as a differentiating quality from its competitors. The #bendtherules campaign did just that. HP partnered with some of the largest Vine influencers as each one created a unique funny 6 second product placement clip to showcase the laptop’s functions. Viner Robby Ayala’s video received almost 250,000 views and 7000 comments with his take on the #bendtherules campaign.
Expedia’s South American Getaway contest on Instagram:
What better way to win a trip to South America than an Instagram giveaway? Expedia did just that by giving away to one lucky winner a free vacation to a beautiful South American city such as Rio de Janeiro. They were able to drive awareness and engagement by having users follow its and LAN & TAM Airline’s Instagram accounts and commenting below for a chance to win the free trip. According to Unmetric, the #OnlyInSouthAmerica campaign had earned a high engagement score of 999.
